  1. Safety glass is glass that does not splinter
  2. into sharp pieces when smashed. Toughened
  3. glass is made by heating a glass sheet and
  4. then rapidly cooling it with a blast of cold
  5. air, this causes it to shatter into rounded
  6. pieces when smashed. Laminated glass is a 
  7. sandwich of a clear plastic film between two
  8. glass sheets, this simply cracks when 
  9. smashed as the plastic holds the glass in 
  10. place.
